Owen Taggart , the former global senior vice president of category development for the IBOA Group, the global coffee, coffeehouse and tea company, was named the new CEO of Edge Motion, an electric wheeled beach cruiser company, the company announced this week.

Taggart’s responsibilities will be that of leading the creative, research and development, sales and marketing, and branding efforts for the organization.

He will also have oversight of the brand’s wholesale, independent retail and direct-to-consumer businesses.

With over 17 years experience in high-end creative marketing, brand and creative experience, Taggart was a driving force behind IBOA’s successful transformation and expansion from an 18,000 square foot company to an international private equity owned business encompassing 240 locations in 16 countries.

“I am very excited to join Edge Motion at such an exciting time for the company,” said Taggart. “Working with a highly talented team and an extremely loyal, passionate and committed consumer base, I look forward to managing the businesses across the U.S. and expanding the brand globally.”

“Owen’s enormous expertise in brand and creative marketing enables the Edge Motion brand to compete effectively in the ever-evolving transport category,” said Todd Oldenburg, co-founder and president of Edge Motion. “We are thrilled to welcome Owen to the team and look forward to his expansion into the retail and wholesale channels. For us, working on product innovation is key to our business, and with Owen coming on board, we believe the Edge Motion brand will continue to lead the category.”

Edge has rapidly grown its presence in the market over the past year. They are currently installed in national retailers such as Bebe and O’Reilly Auto Parts, and company officials said they are looking forward to continuing their national growth in 2019.
